NIGTON CEMETERY (BLACK)

To go to Nigton Cemetery from Groveton, take Hwy 94, go through Apple Springs, TX, turn right on Farm to Market Road 2501 & go a very short distance to the fork in the road.  Follow the left fork for 4.5 miles to the junction with Farm to Market Road 2262.  Cross FM 2262, to the left, you will see Ligon CME Church & the cemetery is directly behind it.  Entrance to the cemetery is through the unlocked pedestrian gate located behind the Fellowship Hall.

Nigton Cemetery was relisted 4 January 1992 by Mrs. Frances Byers and Mrs. Patricia B. Hensley.  They found nine unidentified vaults and at least thirty-six unidentifiable markers.  Judging from the size of the cemetery and the few headstones or markers of any kind, there are probably many lost or otherwise identified graves.
