CHITA CEMETERY

Take Farm to Market 355 south from Groveton, TX for 11 miles to Chita Baptist Church. Turn left & go about one-quarter mile. The cemetery is on the right.

This rural community is among the oldest in Trinity County. As families have researched their ancestry, the number of Civil War veterans has increased from two in the 1992 edition of Trinity County Cemeteries to six. There are a number of World War I and World War II veterans buried here.  Some of the information given was copied from the Foster and Parker Bibles by Hazel Parker Fuller.

At the end of the listing, we have some given names without surnames.  Also, there are some tombstones with only the first letter of the surname listed.  If anyone knows who these people are, we would appreciate the information.

For the compiled list, both Trinity County Cemeteries ©1980 and the second edition Trinity County Texas Cemeteries © 1992 both published by Trinity County Historical Commission (TCHC) were consulted. Bracketed items are either observed double headstones or verbally "found" information about the person.
