DEASON, Henry Lee

Funeral services for Henry Lee Deason, 97, of Carthage, will be held at 2 pm today, Feb. 28, 2001, at Lipsey Family Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Earl Moore and Allen Tilley will officiate. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery in Panola County under the direction of Lipsey Family Funeral Home. He died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at his residence. 

Born Nov. 15, 1903 in Meridian, MS, he was the son of Ben and Lenora Deason. He married Ina Lee Rich in 1925 and they celebrated 68 years of marriage before her death on Dec. 29, 1993. He worked as a chief operator for United Gas Pipeline for 42 years before retiring in 1969. He lived all of his adult life in Panola County and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Rosemary Deason, of Houston; daughter, Ventriss Payne, of Carthage; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three faithful sitters: Helen Roberts, Marguriete Griffin and Dee Barnett, all of Carthage.

Pallbearers will be Danny Nabors, Kevin Nabors, Micah Reese, Gary Payne, Jimmy Hammack, Robert Tietz, Jason Hammack and Randy Payne.

The family suggest memorials be made to Centennial Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Ventriss Payne, 579 FM 31 South, Carthage, TX  75633.

HAYES, Mary Elizabeth

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Hayes, 60, of Carthage, were held Monday, Mar 5, 2001, at Jimerson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Rodney Puryear officiated. Burial followed in Farmers Academy Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, TX. She died Friday, Feb 23, 2001 in Carthage.
