Hester Golden is shown on the 1870 Census living alone in Household #1345-1345, while Richard Golden was in Household # 1343-1343, two doors away.  On this census, Hester said she was born in AL.

            Possibly William Sanders who is shown on the 1870 Census as being 63

            Years old, and having been born in GA.  He was in Household # 1341-1341, only two houses away from Richard Golden.

On this census, Henrietta said she was born in MO.

Nelson Golden is shown on the 1870 Census in Household # 1294-1294 and stated that he was born in TX.  With him on this census was his wife, Agnes, and seven children, only one of whom would have been born free.

Martha given to Catherine Matthews 29 Jan 1850 by her father Richard Golden.           

She appears on the 1870 Census, along with her husband John Golden, in Household # 1359-1359, only two houses away from Dr. Thomas Golden (unknown if Thomas was the son of Mace or Henry Golden).  She is shown as being 35 years of age and having been born in AL.

Note:  Although the Gift Deed of 1858 shows Richard Golden as giving his daughter Mary Jane Taylor the slave Matilda, both Taylors were dead by the end of the Civil War and emancipation.  On the 1870 Census there was no black female by the name of Matilda living in the households near to Richard Golden.

Oden”, three slaves… Paulina, age about 18 years, a copper colored mulatto, and her two children – Margaret, approximately 2 or 3 years old, dark complexion, and Chince, approximately 2 or 3 weeks old, a bright mulatto, these slaves already in her possession.

Mortgage:  One slave, David, age about 9 years.  Richard Golden, Mace Golden and Thomas Gulley to receive $790.25 from the estate of Theophilus Hill.  This amount is to repaid to the estate by the slave David.
