Lawrence Cemetery
Surveyed 03-09-98 by Marylee W. Knight
This cemetery is located on State Highway 149 approximately half way between Carthage and Beckville. It lies close to the highway, adjacent to Pisgah United Methodist Church. The only connection between the cemetery and the church is that they are neighbors. Despite that fact, many people erroneously refer to the cemetery by the name of Pisgah Cemetery. The first sanctuary for Pisgah U.M.C. was erected in this location in 1913 on land donated by the family of John Fite. According to the gravestones, the first burial in the cemetery was in 1926.
