"John B. Sinclair, born 1817 in Tennessee and his wife Mary Ann Wealthy
Horn, both of DeSoto Parish LA moved ot Panola County, Texas about 1861. They
were married June 1, 1854 in Mansfield LA by George Hendrick, J.P. and witnessed
by William Horn, William Fletcher and Mr. Frank S. A bond of two thousand
dollars was required to unite the couple.
"They brought to Panola County fifteen children; eight by his first wife
Sharon McNeese were Jane Adeline, Elizabeth, John T. Narcisa, Arminta, Casandra,
May and Franklin P. - all born in Caddo and DeSoto parishes in LA. Two others,
Nathanel and Matilda died before 1860. Seven were the children of John's second
marriage to Mary Ann Wealthy Horn, all born in DeSoto Parish: Henry and
Henrietta (twins), Alonzo, Sarah Carmilla, Ozetta, J.L. and P.
"After settling in Panola County, two more children were born: Dolly in
1868 and Joseph Elam in 1873. There were twenty-one children in all, including
seven sets of twins and five orphans.
"Jane Adeline married Jeremiah Pyle on June 5, 1854. Only child known is
Elizabeth.
"John T. married Martha "Mattie" Elizabeth Barnett on November 2,
1865. They had no children. He was killed in a feud. Martha married second a Dr.
Davis.
"Narcisa J. married D.J. Creech on October 20, 1865. Their children were
Will, Sam, Marion and others. Narcisa married second H.W. Goodwin on March 30,
1887.
"Arminta married Lorenze Harris Adams on February 4, 1869. Their children
were Georgia Ann, Marrie, Ida who married John Boyd, Lily May who married Eliza
Foshee, Sarah Camelia who married Goodwill Wynne, Addie Maybelle who married
William C. Reeves (their son L.E. "Cush" Reeves was a Deputy Sheriff
in Panola County), Arrie, Beulah Mary who married Thomas Middleton Reeves (their
son was the singer Jim Reeves). Arminta and Lorenzo were divorced and he second
married Naomi V. Lawrence about 1898."Casandra married John C. Barnett on
January 17, 1867 and their children were Willie, George, Harvey, Maxie and
Mattie (twins), Effie Ellen, Mamie and Eliges.

"Franklin P. married Julia A. and their children were Benjamin S., Julia,
Mary L. and Joseph.

"Henrietta married Franklin Barnett on December 23, 1875 and their children
were Cammie, Baskom and Nig.

"Sarah Carmilla married Elisha D. Barnett on December 23, 1875 and their
children were Alford, Mary, Bessie and Nettie.

"Joseph Elam married Monte Jay on November 21, 1900. She died in 1905 and
they had no children. He second married Elba Davis on March 31, 1906 and their
children were Izetta dn Charley.
"John B. Sinclair served in the Civil War as a private. He enlisted on June
15, 1862 at Carthage for three years or the war, in Co. H, 1st TX Regt, Texas
Lancers. Col. Horace Randal commanding and Pat H. Martin as Capt.
John B. filed for 160 acres of vacant land in Panola County on July 25, 1867 by
virtue of an act approved by the State. Said land being situated in the south
east corner of Panola County near Clear Lake on the east side of the Sabine
River, about 16 miles south east of Carthage.
"John B. died November 7, 1899 and is buried in Adams Cemetery in the Logan
Community. Land for the cemetery was donated by Mrs. Ruth Reynolds father
Lorenzo Adams."
