Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2004, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Reverend David Turner of Little Cypress Baptist Church will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation was held at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Welch was born in Henderson, Texas and lived most of his life in the Orange area. He is a retired operator from A. Schulman and served our country in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Lee Welch, Sr.; mother, Janie Welch; four brothers, Junior Welch, Chester Welch, Cecil Welch and Eldon Welch.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Doris Welch of Orange; daughter, Carol Theriot; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sherri Bergt of Clinton, Miss.; sister, Levenia Willey of Mauriceville; brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Bea Welch of Webbervile, Texas; sister-in-law, Shelma Welch of Starks; grandchildren, Donnie Anderson, Cheryl Dennis, Jimmy Bergt, Amy Bryce, Theresa Theriot, Amanda Bergt, La Leah Sims, Charles Bergt II; great grandchildren, Riley Dennis, Jimmy Lee Bergt, Jr., and Jacelyn Bergt.
