Johnnie Lee "Papaw" Nicks, 80 of Bridge City, Texas died Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at Park Place Hospital in Port Arthur. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend David Green, pastor at the church. Entombment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Mr. Nicks was born on April 10, 1924 in Orange, Texas to Fletcher Lee and Carolina Elizabeth (Paulsen) Nicks. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He retired after 35 years of service from DuPont where he worked as a Foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Boudreaux. Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Ada Ruth "Rusty" Nicks of Bridge City; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and William Haynes of Crossville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Deedra Wilson, Warren "Bubba" Wilson, Jr., Edward Haynes, Elizabeth Haynes Houghton; great- grandchildren, Charles "Chuckie" Ganze, Jared Joseph Ganze, Hannah Elizabeth O'Grady, Sharon Elizabeth Wilson, Shane Ryan Wilson, Stetson Strait Wilson, Edward Scott Houghton, Zachary Paul Houghton; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Sue and Arles Smith of Kemp, Texas; and two very special friends, Chrystal Sterns and Frank M. Boudreaux, Jr. Serving as Pallbearers are Johnnie Smith, Billy Smith, Les Smith, Jackie Jones, Warren Wilson, Sr. and Frank Boudreaux. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Sorenson and Jim Torres.
