Michael J. "Mike" Romano

Michael J. "Mike" Romano, 84, of Orange died July 14, 2004, at his residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Officiating will be Reverend William Manger, pastor of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Beaumont. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake service at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

A native and lifelong resident of Orange, Mr. Romano was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a Captain in the 11th Airborne Glider Field Artillery during WWII. He was past Chaplain and life member of the VFW #2775, and past Chaplain and member of the 11th Airborne Division Association, Lone Star Chapter. He was also past Commander, Chaplain, and life member of the American Legion #49, and member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1680.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maria Romano; brothers, Louis and Dominic Romano; and sister, Angie Romano Lomonte.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Romano of Orange; step-daughter, Sherry Gloor and her husband John of Buffalo; brothers, Joe Romano and his wife Rosalie of Orange, and Col. Carlo Romano and his wife Mike of Fallbrook, California; sister, Rosalie Romano Lovoi of Beaumont; step-granddaughters, Brandi Sewell and Mandi Pate; step-great-grandchildren, Macoy Sewell, Shelly Pate, and Samantha Pate; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Romano, Joseph Romano, Chris Romano, Frank Lomonte, J.J. Lovoi, John Lovoi, Charles Reed, and Jon Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW #2775, American Legion Post 49, and the Lone Star Chapter of the 11th Airborne Division Association.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic School, 912 W. Cherry Ave., Orange, TX 77630-5017.
