Homer C. Haworth, 91, of Orange, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at his home in Orange. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Reverend Lynn Ashcraft, pastor of North Orange Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange with Masonic rites under the direction of Madison Lodge #126. Visitation will be from 5 till 8 p.m. Thursday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Mr. Haworth was born in McKinney, Texas, on October 11, 1913, and had lived in Orange since 1943. He was the retired owner of Haworth Construction Company and was the general contractor for many buildings in Orange and Southeast Texas. He was a member of North Orange Baptist Church for 57 years. He was a member of Madison Lodge #126 for over 60 years and was a past master of the lodge, a member of Eastern Star, and a Shriner. His work in the community included Commissioner of Orange County Drainage Board, work with the Camp Fire organization, serving as Lt. Governor of Kiwanis, and a member of the Golden K. As one of the founders of First Savings and Loan Association, he was on the board of directors. He enjoyed traveling with members of Gator Sam RV Club. Mr. Haworth was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Margaret E. Haworth. He is survived by one brother, Vance Haworth of Sherman; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Gary San Angelo of Orange and Patsy and Louis Willie also of Orange; four grandchildren, Marla Reynolds, Barry Willie, Robin Smith, and Chris San Angelo; five great-grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Carson Reynolds, Alyssa Willie, Olivia Willie and Alex Willie. Pallbearers will be J.C. Jones, Buddy Withrow, Lloyd Holcomb, Glyn Haley, Sam Khoury and Robert Guerra. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children or to North Orange Baptist Church.
