My great-grandfather was Rev. J. D. Stringer, a Baptist minister who served in Marion County for a few years. I found the following records of marriages he performed. These were taken from announcements in the Jefferson Jimplecute. RuthAnn
Feb. 4, 1905: On last Wed. night, Jan 25, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Williams, of Howelton, Rev. J. D. Stringer joined together the lives of Mr. R. D. Trice of Carthage, Texas, and Miss Clyde Williams...
April 8, 1905: At the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. Alice Brantly... April 5, Mr. D. W. Howard and Miss Bessie Brantly were united in marriage, Rev. J. D. Stringer officiating... will make home in Leesville, La.
June 11, 1905: Ben F. Woods & Miss Eula Williams were married at the home of Rev. J. D. Stringer, Baptist pastor.
On Sunday, Dec. 24, 1905, Mr. John D. Aiken and Miss Virginia Bell Davis were married at the home of the bride's father, W. R. Davis. Rev. J. D. Stringer officiating.
Dec. 8, 1906 - Sun. morning at Baptist parsonage. Mr. A. M. Wilson of Texarkana to Miss Lula Hasty of Jefferson. Rev. J. D. Stringer officiating.
March 25, 1927: Mr. Osborne Carter and Miss Lola Watson were quietly but impressively married at Mt. Zion Church Sunday morning, May 20, 1927... Rev. J. D. Stringer performing the ceremony.
