Killing Near Avinger
Last Saturday afternoon John Holt shot a Mr. White through the heart with a shotgun
causing death in a few moments. Holt was a tenant on the B. G. Adams place near Avinger
which was owned by White and in some trouble over a settlement about a stove, White was
shot in the heart and ran out of the house a few yards and fell dead.
Holt went off and was captured early Tuesday morning in the Liberty Hill settlement on the
Jackson farm at the home of his father-in-law, Mr. Campbell.
