Last Monday evening,at 9 o-clock JOHN FRANKLIN GAMBRELL,DIED VERY SUDDENLY AT THE RESIDENCE OF HIS SON-IN -LAW, C. J. FRANKS, near EAGON, FRIDAY NOV. 19 1915. MR GAMBRELL WAS 73 years of age and came to BEAUL, near Alvarado, 43 years ago and made this place his home since then. He was one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens.
MR. GAMBRELL was sitting in the room talking with his daughter, MRS FRANKS, and the children, suddenly he moved forward in his chair, and fell to the floor. MRS FRANKS CALLED HER HUSBAND WHO WAS IN THE ADJOINING ROOM AND HE RESPONDED IMMEDEATLEY, but MR. GAMBRELL WAS DEAD WHEN HE REACHED HIM.
HE HAD BEEN UP AND ABOUT THE PLACE ALL DAY,AND APPARENTLY IN PERFECT HEALTH, TEN SECONDS BEFORE HIS DEATH. Physicians gave heart failure as the cause of death.
MR GAMBRELL was a member of the FRIST BABTIST CHURCH, having joined this denomination over 40 years ago. He was also in the CIVIL WAR under GEN STONEWALL JACKSON, AND WAS IN HARTS ISLAND PRISON FOR A WHILE, and was present at GETTYSBURG where the noted Gen. fell.
Funeral services were held Wed. Afternoon at 3 o'clock at BEAUL CHURCH, CONDUCTED BY Rev Kinght of Cleburne. Interment was made immediately after in the BEAUL, CEMETERY. The remains were place beside his wife who proceeded him to the grave.
