Old grave reported
On the property of Dona Hubernak, of Alvarado, is a grave that has beenthere since 1860. Doris and Leroy Lanfear, of Cleburne, are president of the Johnson County Cemetery Association. A few days ago, they received a phone call telling them about the grave on Mrs. Hubernak's property. Upon a visit last Wednesday afternoon, they were taken to a small wooded area in the pasture across from Mrs. Hubernak's house and shown a marker which is sandstone. It had been carved with this inscription, "A Christian Framer, Sarah Bohannon. Born July 20, 1836. Died Aug. 5, 1860". It has been said she had a baby buried with her, which leads one to believe that since she was just 24 years old that she most likely died in childbirth along with her baby. Mrs. Hubernak said that her grandchildren used to bring wildflowers and put on the grave. Pictured above, l-r, are Doris Lanfear, Paula Daniel, Dona Hubernak and Zana Mae Aldridge, a very dear friend of Mrs. Hubernak.
